Project Summary and Objectives

The project is currently in the implementation phase, with a multidisciplinary team of experts jointly working on the development of new hardware and software solutions based on artificial intelligence, as well as on technical demonstration and experimental research of innovative products. PBMSense will enable more precise monitoring of key marine engine parameters, earlier detection of irregularities, and more efficient management of fuel consumption and maintenance.

The objective of the project is to develop, through collaboration within the SPIN consortium, two globally innovative products ready for commercialization for maritime companies. Project activities include research and development actions (industrial research, experimental development, and feasibility studies), investment in infrastructure for testing and experimentation, project management, as well as promotion and visibility activities.

The project will result in the establishment of a strategic partnership between two micro-enterprises, one small enterprise, and two research and knowledge-dissemination organizations, as well as in the successful completion of planned development phases from TRL 2 to TRL 8. The submission of three patent applications related to AI algorithms for system reliability and engine efficiency, as well as to hardware interfaces for the integration of new onboard sensors, is anticipated. The project is expected to have a positive impact on employment growth and sales revenue among SPIN consortium members, while contributing to increased efficiency and reduced negative emissions in the maritime industry.
